Join our client's team as a Network Infrastructure Engineer for the prestigious Joint Research Centre of the European Commission in Ispra (Varese).
With over 30 years of experience, our client is a trusted partner of European governments and international organizations, specializing in IT and space services, providing operational and engineering support for Earth observation missions, data processing, and applied research.
In this role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of a large-scale campus network infrastructure, supporting 2500 users across various locations. You will have a deep understanding of Cisco technologies, network security, and automation, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our network systems.
YOUR TASKSDesign, implement, and maintain campus network infrastructure for 2500 users.Manage and optimize Cisco technologies, including Catalyst 9000, IOS-XE, and Stack configurations.Administer and troubleshoot switching (VLANs, EtherChannel, STP) and routing protocols (OSPF, BGP).Lead migration to Cisco ACI for large-scale data centre projects (150 racks, 20,000 VMs).Manage Cisco datacentre technologies (Nexus 9000, 7000, NX-OS).Automate tasks using Python, Bash, PowerShell, and tools like Ansible, Netmiko, REST API, and GIT.Administer WAN infrastructure (IPSec VPN, MPLS, DMVPN, SSL-VPN) across multiple countries.Implement and manage network security with Cisco Firepower and Fortinet firewalls.Oversee Wi-Fi management with Cisco WLC controllers.Monitor network performance using SNMP and Syslog tools.YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEExpertise in Cisco network technologiesStrong knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 technologies.Expertise in high availability technologies.Experience with Cisco datacentre technologies and ACI migration.Proficiency in Linux systems and automation scripting (i.e. Python, Bash, PowerShell).Familiar with network automation tools (i.e. Netmiko, REST API, Ansible, GIT).Experience managing WAN infrastructureKnowledge of network securityTACACS + Authentication, DHCP, and DNS services.Proven experience with Wi-Fi deployment and managementFamiliar with network monitoring and troubleshootingStrong problem-solving and teamwork skills.Certification in CCNA/CCNP Enterprise.Good written and oral command of English (B1 or higher)EXTRA INFORMATIONWork location: Ispra (Varese), Italy at the European Commission Joint Research CentreWork mode: Hybrid, 3 days on-site per week and the rest from homeLaptop providedCompetitive Salary, for both Employees and FreelancersCorporate Benefits PackageCompany eventsThe competence level will be tested during the interview.
