We are looking for a HEAD OF PURCHASING DEPARTMENT for our client leader in automotive components.Reporting line: into the General ManagerManagerial responsibility: two employersTHE ROLEThe Head of Purchasing is responsible for defining and coordinating global procurement strategies, even for indirect purchasing.
This role involves identifying and implementing best practices, selecting the most suitable suppliers, and ensuring that procurement processes align with the company's global goals.
The manager will also be responsible for establishing and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure optimal performance, cost-effectiveness, and compliance across all procurement activities.The Head of Purchasing is responsible for all ordinary activities of the purchasing department: day by day activities, procurement, price list management, intercompany prices management, purchasing office clerk management.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Global Strategy Development: Define and implement a comprehensive global strategy, both for direct and indirect procurement, ensuring alignment with the company's broader business objectives.Supplier Management: Establish global supplier selection criteria, negotiate contracts, and manage supplier relationships to ensure cost-effectiveness, quality, and compliance across all production facilities.Policy Definition Coordination: Develop, standardize, and coordinate procurement policies across different regions and production sites, ensuring consistency and efficiency in processes.KPI Establishment Monitoring: Define appropriate KPIs for supplier performance, cost savings, quality control, and supply chain efficiency.
Continuously monitor and report on procurement metrics to drive continuous improvement.Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with production, operations, IT and finance teams to ensure procurement strategies support overall business objectives and production requirements.Risk Management: Identify potential supply chain risks and develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans to ensure business continuity.Cost Optimization: Drive cost-saving initiatives through strategic sourcing, vendor consolidation and process optimization.Sustainability Compliance: Ensure that global procurement activities comply with regulatory requirements and align with the company's sustainability goals.Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the global procurement team, fostering a new culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.Qualifications:University Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
Fluent English.10+ years of experience in procurement preferable in mechanical environment – Automotive or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing also global indirect purchasing.Expertise in global procurement strategies, supplier management, and contract negotiation.Experience in multinational manufacturing or mechanical production environment is highly appreciated.Proven track record of implementing cost-saving initiatives and improving procurement processes.Strong quality sensibility as well as process improvement skills.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.Value chain analysis skills and experience.Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.Familiarity with sustainable procurement practices.Strong leadership and team-building skills.Training and professional growth of the Purchasing department people.Proactive in suggesting process and continuous improvement initiatives.
