Position Overview
We're seeking a junior or a skilled Hardware Design Engineer. In this role you will be working alongside experienced design engineers to develop high-performance and innovative hardware boards and solutions. The work will include concept and feasibility studies, design, development and testing of hardware circuit blocks.
Key Responsibilities
Define detailed specification and requirements, starting from system requirements Requirements capture, analysis and management Design electronic hardware and ensure it complies with specifications. Perform printed circuit board (PCB) layout and ensure it is accurate. Provide Hardware Electronic engineering support as required. Create, maintain and update engineering related aspects (e.g. parts, bill of materials) of the material requirements planning (MRP) system. Assist the production team with diagnosing manufacturing issues, tooling and testing/fixtures. Assist the Production team with transducer and accessory validation. Create, maintain and update procedures for assembly and calibration. Ensure inventory is optimized. Ensure all work complies with the requirements of the quality system. Ensure the documentation of products and packing lists is accurate and well-maintained. Ensure components, processes and products are designed to maximize effective manufacture and efficiency requirements. Ensure product is manufactured in accordance with specifications provided by the engineering department. Other related tasks as required. Document design specifications, implementation details, and test procedures for future reference and knowledge sharing documentation of products and design information. Provide progress/technical updates to the engineering manager, technical authority or project manager as necessary. Provide input into the project management plan, notably with timescale estimation and technical risk identification. Provide technical guidance and support to junior developers and cross-functional teams. Preparation of material for phase reviews. Contribute to peer design reviews. Leadership of small teams and projects as required. Field trials support. Proactively support company compliance to Health and Safety legislation through adherence to company policies, processes and practices. Ensure that all business activity is conducted in line with company values, policies and ethics codes of conduct. Undertake any other activity as reasonably requested by management. Qualifications
Honors Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field. Master's degree preferred, however experience is important and will be considered in lieu of formal academic qualifications. A good understanding of structured projects and engineering methodologies. Comprehensive understanding of computer hardware, software, and electrical systems. Experience using hardware CAD design software. Experience in hardware test & verification. Knowledge of laboratory test instruments (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, ...). Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Interfacing to software and FPGA teams. Technical design and test documentation. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment as well as independently, sharing ideas and work around solutions. Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences. Excellent organizational skills, such as time management and prioritizing. Proficient in the use of standard MS Office tools, Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio. Good knowledge of English in writing and speaking. Apply for this position
