Job Scope Provide technical leadership in software product design and manage software engineers in the DiaSorin SD&I organization. Contributing through both a technical role equivalent to a Senior Software Engineer II/Architect and as a Manager supervising software engineers. Working closely with other development and product teams, domain experts, technical leads, and product management to initiate, design, develop and release high quality products according to Design Inputs and Customer Requirements for medical devices regulated by the FDA. The ability to lead a variety of projects, manage priorities, lead groups of software engineers, and effectively work with and negotiate with product marketing are necessary competencies for this position.
Key Duties and Responsibilities Define user needs, propose potential solutions, create schedules and produce software for external and internal customers.Collaborate with the Software Management team on setting project priorities, managing on market product support, setting short and long term software technical and design strategy, and resource management.Manage and motivate direct reports for annual performance reviews, goal setting and development plans.Obtain an in-depth working knowledge of DiaSorin products and their targeted users.Lead software development teams to create software architectures and designs to meet design inputs.Develop, implement, release and maintain software applications.Work closely with engineers to ensure that designs are implemented correctly following company SOP's.Participate in design and code reviews, and communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively to other SD&I groups and Senior Management. Create and present project plans and software designs to Senior Management.Other duties as assigned.Education, Experience, and Qualifications Master's Degree in Computer Science Engineering or Sciences, preferably with emphasis on Biomedical Engineering or Systems Engineering. Minimum of 10 years of experience in related field developing commercial software. Minimum of 5 years in leading technical teams in software development. Experience developing application level software using C#, C++ or other relevant languages and SDK production. Proficient with C++, C#, .net, XML, and object oriented design techniques. Familiarity with client-server and service bus architectures. Previous experience bringing client-server or cloud-based products to market is a plus. Familiarity with ISO/FDA regulations is preferred. Aptitude to learn new technologies. Strong organizational skills required for collaboration with multiple groups and project management across multiple sites. Successful leadership experience in a full Software Development Lifecycle as part of a large interdisciplinary team. Effective leadership motivating and directing the team to deliver exciting, high quality software products in support of business goals. Self-starter and team player, with excellent work ethics and high quality standards. Effective partner to product marketing, assay R&D, service, manufacturing and customers managing customer needs and on-market issues. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. English: fluent or mother language, both written and spoken. Italian: fluent or mother language, both written and spoken.
