YOUR TEAM
You will be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, where robotics, computer vision and machine learning experts collaborate to carry out common research. The Humanoid Sensing and Perception Research Unit is coordinated by Lorenzo Natale who is an expert in humanoid robotics, machine learning, robot vision and tactile perception.
This project is a joint collaboration between the Humanoid Sensing and Perception and Rehab Technologies - INAIL - IIT research units, to contribute to iHannes, the next version of Hannes, a biomimetic prosthetic hand developed by IIT and Centro Protesi INAIL. The goal of this project is to develop AI algorithms that exploit visual information to guide the degrees-of-freedom of the hand to reduce the amount of control required by the user through EMG or other interfaces.
Responsibilities
Study, devise and implement computer vision and machine learning algorithms for the control of the hand; Research relevant topics; propose, implement and benchmark effective solutions on the Hannes prototype; Assist and collect data during experiments with subjects; Collaborate with other team members to meet deliverables and disseminate the research; ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
A MS degree in relevant field (machine learning, robotics, computer science or equivalent); Knowledge of programming languages like Python or C/C++; Experience with software development in Linux; Solid knowledge of machine learning and computer vision; Strong problem-solving attitude; Ability to work autonomously in a highly interdisciplinary environment; High motivation to learn; Good command in spoken and written English. ADDITIONAL SKILLS
Documented experience working with real robotic systems; Experience working with modern machine learning methods (e.g. Transformers, Large Language Models); Experience with core concepts of software architectures and networking; Experience with open source robotics software and middleware (e.g. ROS/YARP); WHAT'S IN FOR YOU?
