WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH You will play a key role in a diverse, highly-talented team managing cloud-native data engineering systems to consistently ensure the timely, accurate and secure production and delivery of data from the Hostelworld platform.
You will work closely with other technology groups and business owners to refine quality standards and processes for data processing design, pipeline design, development and deployment. The underlying purpose is to ensure we have an efficient, robust, secure and performant data service to support our business growth.
WHAT YOU'LL DO You will hone and develop a wide range of technical skills in managing our data. The data engineering team requires a person who is flexible, adaptable and able to connect a wide range of data sources and types into a focal point. It's a rewarding experience with exciting diverse work:
Maintain and apply up to date, specialist knowledge of database concepts including unstructured, NoSQL and "big data" platformsDesign ETL frameworks and standards for specific ETL programmes and projects, working with modern and legacy data sourcesSupport estimating, prioritizing, planning and coordinating tasks and activitiesSelect and implement the most effective best practice tools and delivery processes to ensure data quality standards are maintained effectivelyInteract and liaise with global teams of software developers and business unit owners building and releasing new platform featuresImplement appropriate best practices to support rapid and efficient capacity scaling and increase the quality & velocity of data processingPartner with cross functional experts across the organisation delivering a variety of different projects ranging from consumer facing features to backend functionalitySupport estimation of effort / activity for new projects and features, and dependencies / impacts, working closely with technical and business teamsBuild new pipelines to increase our visibility of business metrics by ingesting partner data from external API sourcesMain requirements Minimum 3 years of experience in Data Engineering.Experience working in a team of dispersed Data Engineering professionals, supporting and ensuring high quality and on-time consistent delivery of Data in Cloud environments.Deep understanding of modern Data tools and best practice standards, and the ability to make the right tool choices.Support optimizing infrastructure costs.Hold a strong bias towards efficiency through automation, continually improving approach, scaling processes and implementing effective monitoring as needed.Excellent organisation and time-management skills, able to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.Ability and drive to maintain a high bar of quality and have pride in doing work well to high engineering standards.Ability to balance technical leadership with sound business judgment.
