BATTERY SENIOR CAD LEAD ENGINEER There is an opportunity for a Battery Senior CAD engineer to lead the development of Busbar (and associated components), within the Traction Battery engineering department.
Responsibilities to include: * Responsible for CAD development confirmed to RMDV requirements, for: busbars, connections and end items (such as brackets, grommets and fixings as applicable).
* Merge logical (electrical) data with mechanical data in alignment with bill of design (BoD), bill of process (BoP) and component DFM (design for manufacture) requirements.
* Design compatibility to engineering standards confirmed and non-compliances identified for discussion.
* Lead cross functional problem resolution with CAD based solutions.
* Escalate and communicate issues and roadblocks for arbitration suggesting solutions to powertrain and vehicle management.
* Support supplier in driving with pace robust geometrical issue resolution post sourcing.
* Complete 3D geometry vs physical part checks, supporting virtual builds and validation plans.
Skills, experience and qualifications Essential: * Busbar design / validation in a HV environment.
* Strong people skills and the ability to work individually and in a cross functional team * Excellent communication and presentation skills.
* Experience of meeting deadlines.
* Working Knowledge of Problem Resolution Techniques e.g.
8D * An understanding of manufacturing processes of harness with regards to wires/circuits/connectors and bundle routing.
* Use of MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) Desired: * Specific High Voltage component design skills and surrounding EMC requirements in automotive legislation.
* Plastic component (bracket / enclosure) design experience and knowledge of associated manufacturing processes (injection moulding).
* Sheet metal component (Busbar) design experience and knowledge of associated manufacturing processes (stamping / bending).
* Experience with company specific software / toolsets such as RMDV / WERS / iCreate.
* Engineering knowledge of traction batteries and associated systems.
* Previous experience of tolerance calculations / stack ups.
