Job Description - Associate Director, Global Sourcing - Travel, Meetings & Events (230659) This Associate Director role in the Global Strategic Sourcing function will be responsible for managing the Travel, Meetings and Events programs globally for the company. This includes assessment of the current programs, developing and implementing plans for improvement, and monitoring progress. This role will have responsibility for the Travel and Meetings and Events policies which will require regular monitoring and updating. Communication of the programs and serving as the face of the travel office is a key responsibility. While the role supports the broader company with their travel and meetings needs, key business partners include Finance Operations (T&E, Corporate Card) and the meetings planning team in Commercial. This role will have primary responsibility for serving as the primary interface to manage our global travel agency.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
Build a world-class business travel and meeting and events program at Alnylam. Serve as the face and subject matter expert of the program to the business including key executive stakeholders. Build business partner relationships and be the single point of contact for key stakeholders. This includes development of strong internal working relationships across all business units including Strategic Sourcing, Finance, Operations, Executive Leadership, and their Executive Assistants/travel arrangers. This will include oversight of global travel programs supporting all Alnylam Global offices. Develop and implement category strategies including air transportation, hotel, car rental, and limousine programs that will result in increased traveler satisfaction, cost savings, improved security, reduced environmental impact where possible, and the development of preferred suppliers. Implement sourcing initiatives supporting the category strategies in close collaboration with key business stakeholders. Proactively identify, report, and mitigate risks and establish and execute plans for business continuity. Take a leadership role in assessing travel processes, tools, and policies to strengthen the travel program and enhance the travel experience to include evaluating, recommending, and implementing new ways to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the travel process. Keep abreast of developments in the travel industry and assess travel processes, tools, and policies that will strengthen the travel program. Administer and monitor compliance of our global travel policy; periodically review and adjust as the business evolves and expands when necessary. Manage and lead our current outsourced travel management company (TMC) as well as other preferred travel providers in the program. This includes managing all operational issues, SLAs, reporting requirements, and policy compliance. Including leading monthly meetings where issues and updates are tracked. Manage and update internal travel program web page listing preferred travel providers, appropriate links, travel news, etc. Partner with the Global Meetings & Events team to ensure alignment of objectives between transient and group travel programs. Qualifications
Bachelors Degree, ideally in Business travel/hospitality management, business administration, procurement, or finance. Advanced Degree (MS/MBA) preferred. 7+ years of direct experience in Sourcing and Procurement and/or Travel Management. In-depth knowledge of Sourcing/Procurement of the Travel Category ideally in the context of Biotechnology or Pharmaceuticals. Corporate travel industry knowledge and experience using benchmark data to drive program improvements. Experience in working in a highly entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment. Highly skilled in technical Contract Negotiation, including the ability to collaborate directly with Legal and business stakeholders in the creation, editing and implementation of contracts. Demonstrated Project Management experience. Ability to develop and execute strategic plans relevant to the Travel category. Excellent interpersonal, communication, leadership and influencing skills.
