As an Agronomist, you will play a key role in ensuring the cultivation of crops meets the needs set by our Breeders and Researchers, helping them make effective selections. You will be responsible for managing the entire cultivation process, which includes climate control, fertilization, and irrigation, as well as offering technical guidance to ensure the growth of healthy crops.
Your day-to-day activities will involve leading and motivating your team, or if you're not in a leadership position, offering support and guidance to less experienced Agronomists. You'll oversee every stage of crop cultivation, ensuring that all tasks, particularly those related to crop trials, are executed smoothly and in line with financial and production goals.
Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with Breeders and Researchers to assess and define crop objectives, making sure that all conditions are optimized for success. You'll also be key for safety, maintaining a healthy working environment, and you may have the responsibility of managing inventory and supplies for the crops. Lastly, you'll actively participate in and contribute to our International Growing Teams, helping to share knowledge and improve practices across borders.
To succeed in this role, you'll need a Bachelor's degree (HBO) in Agronomy, Plant Science, or a related field. Additionally, we're looking for someone with 4 to 5 years of experience in crop cultivation and a solid understanding of plant physiology. Proficiency with climate control systems will be essential for managing the environment in which the crops grow.
You'll also need strong interpersonal skills, as you'll either lead a team or collaborate closely with other professionals. Fluency in English is required, as you'll be working with international teams. The role involves working in a variety of conditions, sometimes in high temperatures, and there may be occasions when you need to work outside or during the weekend.
