UNICEF is currently seeking a Consultant to support its ethics-focused research and drafting initiatives. The position offers the flexibility of remote work , allowing you to make a global impact from anywhere.
About the Role:
The consultancy aims to provide research, drafting, and analytical support for two critical discussion papers:
Ethical Considerations in Using AI for Evidence Generation Ethical Considerations for Conducting Evidence Activities Involving Children in Humanitarian Settings Additionally, you will assist with research and documentation for a webinar that focuses on either meaningful consent or mandatory reporting practices in research, with the final outcome document expected in early 2025.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive literature reviews (formal and grey literature) to synthesize existing knowledge on both projects. Lead qualitative research, including key informant interviews and focus groups, to gather insights. Develop concise case studies (1-2 pages each) on ethical issues from UNICEF's internal projects. Periodically present findings to UNICEF's internal advisory group. Support webinar planning by summarizing recent trends and capturing key outcomes for a public-facing document. Qualifications:
Advanced Degree in Applied Science, Social Sciences, Population Science, or a related field. 4+ years of experience in research, evidence synthesis, and ethics documentation, especially in child rights, social sciences, or ethics. Familiarity with core ethical principles and demonstrated ability to conduct in-depth literature reviews and stakeholder interviews. Strong organizational skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced environment. Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN language (e.g., French, Spanish) is highly desirable. Experience working in humanitarian settings or low-resource environments is a plus. Experience in preparing ethics review submissions , and ethics policy or risk analysis. Understanding of topics like digital rights , AI , and predictive algorithms , especially related to child rights. How to Apply:
