Purpose: The purpose of the Water Filtration Design Engineer is to design and develop new technologies for drinking water applications and successfully implement new technologies into products under our Consumer Goods water branding as well as to enhance existing water products through technological improvements and to support technical validation of both new & existing products. Key Accountabilities: Support cross-functional teams to develop/maintain materials and processes that support new products to enable growth and/or reduce cost. Plan R&D type projects/activities to provide water technology solutions to create new products. Plan/supervise (internal or external) pre-compliance testing before external submission for target certifications/approvals. Evaluate performance of new technology, materials, suppliers, components, and products to map competitor landscape. Work directly with customers to run projects and home trials. Analyse results, present conclusions and recommendations to management or relevant cross-functional team. Develop best practice test protocols and methods for use by both internal (operations) and external (suppliers) teams. Supervise and train junior staff, and assist with laboratory work. Create new IP and assist with IP prosecution as needed. Troubleshoot product performance complaints and provide solutions. Maintain a safe and functional water testing laboratory. Person Specification University degree in a science or engineering field relevant to water purification/filtration and chemistry or equivalent. 5 years R&D experience applied to new technologies for drinking water purification applications. 3 years developing new drinking water purification products. Knowledge of common drinking water contaminants, having expertise with respect to at least one class of contaminants. Knowledge of common technologies used to remove contaminants from drinking water, having expertise with respect to at least one type of technology. Knowledge of technical requirements for drinking water and food contact regulation/certification. Awareness of differences between geographies/jurisdictions. Ability to take new technologies from R&D/proof-of-concept phase to scale-up/validation and production. Ability to innovate and provide creative input to new products. Experience in working with customers globally. Strong ability to interpret data, draw appropriate conclusions and recommendations, and produce high-quality work (using MS Office). High level of autonomy and able to work with limited supervision. Experience in plastic injection moulding tooling strongly desired. CAD use ability desired.
