Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Iii

Wage: $24.87 - $37.30 hourly (Full Range)
Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining wastewater treatment plan systems and related equipment to ensure proper operations. Controls wastewater treatment plant operations in accordance with all established regulations, standards, and procedures. Performs inspection, operation and maintenance of lift stations, electrical controls, pumps, devices, and valves. Performs scheduled preventive maintenance. Performs and documents compliance with testing process, calculations, and formulas.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is generally performed in an outdoor environment; work schedule is generally M-Fri, 6:00am – 2:30pm and may be subject to change. Work may involve moderate to heavy work in all types of weather. Employees in this position will need to stand, stoop, walk, occasionally lift to 100 pounds and/or heavy objects and may perform other similar actions during the workday. The Town of Florence promotes a drug/alcohol-free work environment using pre-employment and Department of Transportation mandated drug testing.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED, plus three (3) years of experience operating in an ADEQ Grade III wastewater treatment plant, an ADEQ Grade III certification as a Wastewater Treatment Plan Operator, and an ADEQ Grade III wastewater collections certification.
Preferred:
High school diploma or GED; associate degree in environmental science, chemistry, biology, mathematics, chemical engineering, or closely related field. Two (2) years of experience operating in an ADEQ Grade IV wastewater treatment plant with one (1) of those years being an ADEQ Grade III certified Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator and an ADEQ Grade III wastewater collections certification, one (1) year of supervisory experience.
Must have and keep a valid Arizona Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Air Brake Endorsement License or the ability to obtain it within one (1) year from date of hire.
