Our client is an American International Group, leader in the packaging sector.
For the Europe Corporate HQ, they are currently looking for a
Transport and Warehousing Purchasing Manager – based in Italy (Emilia Romagna, Lazio or Campania)
Primary responsibility will be Transport & Warehousing sourcing categories; He contributes to the key objectives of Company Sourcing department: meeting internal and external customers' service requirements at the lowest cost to serve. Successful candidate will control around €17m annual logistics spend (mainly road transport) across a perimeter encompassing up to 7 plants.
Posizione: His responsibilities will be:
Identify cost opportunities, synergies and challenge the status quo where appropriate. Benchmark transport and warehousing costs in his area of responsibility. Build, communicate, monitor, and secure budget in his zone. Monitor and review suppliers' performances with operations with reference to the agreed standard and service levels. Take necessary steps for continuous improvement with Logistics services providers. Negotiate transport and warehousing agreements with Logistics providers, securing adequate capacity. Support Sales departments in their customer development objectives with required service level at the lowest cost to serve. Support operations with an efficient and cost-effective logistics organisation and provide timely support and information to the plants/ Businesses. He will be key in Logistics projects as required: internal, or with customers or suppliers. Ensure compliance to policies, adherence to Group logistics systems and standards, formalise and file contracts, tariffs and agreements with logistics service providers. Manage invoicing and claim issues with suppliers as well as feed Market Intelligence on suppliers capabilities, competition, technology. Additionally, candidate responsibilities could be enlarged to cover other sourcing categories & European projects depending on profile, company needs & market development.
Requisiti: Successful candidate should have:
Business or engineering degree. At least 5 years experience in logistics, supply chain or purchasing. Data speaks to you and you have experience with working with Windows office and ERPs (SAP appreciated). You work well in a team, have excellent interpersonal, organisational and problem-solving skills. You maintain and create good collaborative relationships with operations and external partners. You have the ability to work in full autonomy and are extremely result oriented. You are fluent in Italian and in English (additional languages would be advantageous). Job position involves travel requirements (Plants, suppliers, Warehouses,…) up to 20%.
