**Summary**:
Transition Support Counselors support the implementation of the Reserve Component Career Counselors (RCCC) and Guard Strength Enhancement Program (GSEP) programs by assisting personnel transitioning from active duty through counseling, and coordination with individuals and agencies as required In Accordance With (IAW) Army National Guard (ARNG), National Guard Bureau (NGB), and Department of Army (DA) guidance and policies.
**Responsibilities**:
**Essential Job Functions**:
- Identify the GSEP population at each place of performance and counsel GSEP-eligible Soldiers on GSEP opportunities.
- Coordinate with RCCC NCO and Contractor Transition Counselors at outlying installations and Interstate Transfer (IST)/In-Service Recruiter (ISR) coordinators to locate valid GSEP paragraph and line number, vacancy control number and position number to assist with the transition of DMOSQ Soldiers who hold an approved GSEP MOS/AOC and are interested in and meet basic eligibility requirements to access into the program.
- Provided the transitioning Soldier agrees to a GSEP assignment, the Contractor shall establish the transition contract IAW AR 601-280
- Shall verify each GSEP transitioned Soldier reported for IDT at the gaining unit through the DPROS system 60 calendar days after transition date and include this information.
- Track all GSEP Soldiers' ETS dates from the AC and monitor ARNG assignment status.
The Contractor shall document and address any change in HOR, unit of assignment, or change of duty position that impacts the Soldier's GSEP funding eligibility per the JTR.
Qualifications:
**Necessary Skills and Knowledge**:
- Must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field.
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
- Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in customer service skills, use of routine office equipment.
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent time management skills
**Minimum Qualifications**:
- At least 4 -5 years of relevant experience.
- Two years experience in Military lifestyle through personal and/or professional experience with
- Military personnel and Military Family members - someone who has an in-depth understanding about the Military culture and the Command structure.
- Ability to successfully pass a background check.
- Ability to obtain a security clearance.
- U.S. Citizen
**Preferred Qualifications**:
- Bachelor's degree in Training and Development, HR Management, Counseling, or related field and minimum 2 years career counseling, education,
- Active Secret Security Clearance
The salary range for this position is $48,000 to $55,000 per year.
