The D. E. Shaw group seeks motivated individuals with impressive records of academic and/or professional achievement to join us as trader/analyst interns. Research analysts and traders are vital to the firm's fundamental investing groups, and we're looking for talented individuals with unique perspectives to join our inclusive and collegial team. Candidates may have a passion for investing, but they may also be newcomers to the field and simply interested in solving complex, multifaceted problems. This is a ten-week program that is expected to run from June to August 2025.WHAT YOU'LL DO DAY-TO-DAYYou'll research, analyze, and perform due diligence on specific companies or industries to help the team assess potential investments. You'll be tasked with staying up to date on current news and trends, reading company reports, and analyzing data from a variety of sources. Because our approach sits at the intersection of finance and technology, our interns employ a number of technological platforms to analyze market data and ultimately make qualitative decisions based on these analyses.WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR• Candidates who display analytical rigor, have impressive critical thinking skills, and have a demonstrated interest in Asian financial markets (e.g., through trading or coding competitions, STEM research experience, involvement with investing or finance clubs/internships, or Olympiad participation) will excel in this role.• Applicants should have exceptional attention to detail and be able to analyze and think through the implications of new investment ideas while also contributing ideas of their own.• Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Mandarin or other local languages is a plus.• We welcome applicants currently enrolled in a four-year undergraduate program or graduate degree program across all fields of study. No previous finance experience is necessary. Students who apply to this internship are usually approaching their final year of full-time study. The members of the D. E.
