**Who we are
The **European University Institute** (EUI) at a glance:

2020 and a Global Executive Master in 2024.
**Employment details**
**Contract type **Full-time (30/30, 40 hours/week)
**Length of contract **36 months, start date: 1 February 2025
This contract may be further renewed (several times and conditional to the
availability of funds), leading to an extension of the period of service up to a total of
5 years, including the first contract period.

The basic net monthly salary after taxes is approximately 3,750 Euro, plus

**About the project**
**Project Directors **Prof. Michael Bauer, Prof. Diane Stone and Prof. Claudio Radaelli
**Project details **The Horizon RADAR consortium aims to understand how public administration
reforms and innovations affect democratic legitimacy.
The main objective of the
project is to provide public administrations (in particular in central government) in
democratic societies with tools to construct input, throughput and output
legitimacy for public administration reform.
It will do so through deep studying the
potential for democratic anchorage of these reforms and through studying the
legitimising accounts on the role and functioning of public administrations in
democratic systems.
**Job description **The research fellow will carry out research work in an independent manner and
collaborate on the research work of the project.
The research assistant will provide
research assistance to the Project Director(s).
- Collecting data and performing sophisticated multi-level statistical analysis
using the new European Quality of Government Index survey data and
other data sources in view to, inter alia, examine relationships between
citizens' attitudes towards public administration legitimacy and broader
democratic attitudes and behaviors at national and regional levels;
- Conducting a systematic review of literatures on topics including
democratic backsliding, populism, public administration reform, citizen
participation, trust in government, illiberal democracy, and democratic
innovation;
- Assisting in the coordination and conducting of a multiparty research
project, including workshops and dissemination events;
- Preparing policy briefs that encapsulate key findings and implications,
preparing and coordinating reports as well as deliverables in the frame of
the project, and translating project outcomes into curricular and
educational resources.

**Experience**
- Ph.D. (submitted) in political science, public administration, or a related field;
- Advanced knowledge of quantitative methods, demonstrated through
- publications or completed research projects;
- Proven knowledge of quantitative data analysis and statistical software
- (e.g., R, Stata, or SPSS), acquired through previous academic experiences;
- Demonstrated research background in quantitative public administration
- research, democratic theory, or a related area;
- Excellent analytical and writing skills, ability to work independently and
collaboratively as part of a team, demonstrated through past work
experiences;
- Strong communication skills for disseminating research findings through
various media channels, proven by previous work experiences.
**Desirable**:
- Demonstrated experience in data construction, data validation, dataset
preparation, and data analysis.
**Languages **Excellent knowledge of English, both spoken and written (CEFR level: C1 or
above).
Knowledge of other languages constitutes an advantage.
