APPLICATION CLOSING DATE:October 5th 2024 The Human Technopole Foundation is seeking a highly motivated Technician/Senior Technician (maternity cover) to join our National Facility for Genome Engineering and Disease Modeling (GEDI). Please note that this hiring is urgent. This facility is at the forefront of patient-specific disease modeling, focusing on scaling up innovative laboratory protocols into automated workflows. By integrating cutting-edge robotic and bioengineering platforms, we aim to standardize and benchmark these protocols through a multidisciplinary approach.
Working in close collaboration with other National Facilities and the Flow Cytometry and Electrophysiology support units, GEDI is dedicated to developing transformative technologies. These efforts are aligned with Human Technopole's vision of advancing high-definition biomedicine using state-of-the-art genome engineering techniques and sophisticated organoid systems at single-cell multiomic resolution.
The successful candidate will report to the Head of the Facility and will have the opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary environment to develop and support the execution of experimental activities in the following areas: Reprogramming of somatic cells into induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), followed by characterization and banking of the generated iPSCs.
Key tasks and responsibilities: Carry out, in synergy with the facility team, the experimental activities envisaged for the provision of Facility services in the field of pluripotent stem cell generation and maintenance. Support the team in the development of innovative protocols for the generation and maintenance of iPSCs. Support the head of the Facility in setting up core resources, participating in key aspects of general facility management and organization (e.g., managing inventories and stocks of samples, reagents, equipment and materials). Mandatory requirements: A master's degree in molecular biology or in a related field of the life sciences is required. At least 1 year of relevant work experience. Experience with human pluripotent stem cell lines. Experience and skills in performing repetitive and specialized laboratory experimental procedures. Experience following experimental protocols. Fluency in English – HT is an international research institute. Preferential requirements: A PhD in molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, or in a related field of the life sciences. Experience with iPS cell reprogramming from somatic cells (e.g. PBMCs). Experience in molecular biology (DNA and RNA manipulation, cloning, sequencing, RT-PCR, single cell manipulation, FACS). Familiarity with 3D cell cultures (generation of organoids). Familiarity with basic molecular biology techniques such as qRT-PCR. Familiarity with Protein Biochemistry methods (immunoblotting and immunoprecipitation techniques, preferably also recombinant protein expression, purification and in vitro reactions), tissue processing and histology (preferably on mammalian brain). Organizational and social skills: Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment and to work independently.
