Job Description SUMMARY
The position assures that supplied components meet Bosch Automotive Steering quality requirements.
The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) will negotiate and evaluate a variety of quality concerns with our component suppliers.
Written and oral communication is critical to this position.
The SQE will ensure communication between the supplier, the Business Unit and the Bosch Automotive Steering Leadership Team.
This position will also lead the 8D activity on component issues identified by the Business Unit, ensure timely defect containment and accurate implementation of the 8D's.
Duties and tasks are standardized.
Resolves routine questions and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher levels.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Lead the supplier claims management process through use of 8D methodology:
Initiation and tracking of containment activities at the supplier and Bosch (D3)
Root cause identification (D4) using 5-Why, Ishikawa, Shainin, and/or other problem solving tools
Implementation of corrective actions and lessons learned at our suppliers (D5-D7)
Collection and chargeback of quality related costs
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to be persistent while creating partnerships with our suppliers and internal quality team.
Review and approve incoming inspection data when necessary.
Assist the Commodity SQE in making quality judgments on supplier components per the drawing.
Read drawings, utilizing General Dimensioning and Tolerances.
Support and comply with all company policies, procedures, standards (TS, APQP, EMS, 5S, Q1, etc.)
and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Performs related quality and problem solving tasks when necessary.
Qualifications EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B.S.)
from a four-year College or University (Engineering degree preferred).
Experience with 8D problem solving methodology required.
Experience with Shainin or other problem solving tools preferred.
Experience leading small teams preferred.
