You will serve as a SUPERVISORY AIR TERMINAL OPERATIONS SPECIALIST in the AIR OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT of NAS SIGONELLA located in Sigonella, Italy. This position is the Director of Operations and serves as the civilian manager/director of the Navy run Air Mobility Command (AMC) Air Terminal Division. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Utilizing the Defense Transportation System principles, concepts, laws, regulations, etc. to recognize, analyze and solve difficult transportation problems and make technical recommendations and decisions; 2) Understanding the Defense Transportation Regulations (DTR) governing eligibility for traffic movement aboard a DOD aircraft; 3) Overseeing airport operations by utilizing computerized information processing systems and aerial port management systems, communications equipment and system security applications; and 4) Reviewing military and civilian aircraft, airfield designs, airfield usage and other aerial port factors necessary to advise and direct decisions that support ground operations on an airfield.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Position is moderately sedentary, but some physical exertion is required, such as walking on the ramp in all types of weather, climbing over and around cargo in the warehouse and aboard aircraft, climbing aircraft boarding ladders, and moving around hazardous/explosive materials. High noise hazards also exist (i.e., aircraft jet engine and MHE and ground support equipment). Extended periods utilizing computerized systems.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Assignment is performed primarily internal to Air Passenger/Cargo Terminals and associated supply warehouse offices that are adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. However much of the time work will require the incumbent to be exposure to all types of weather elements, high noise levels, moving equipment, such as aircraft, ground support equipment, material handling equipment, and hazardous/explosive materials. Exposure to those moderate risks and discomforts make it mandatory to wear protective equipment and requires hearing conservation techniques. Must be eligible to travel by air worldwide.
This position is Emergency-Essential (E-E). In the event of a crisis situation, the incumbent, or designated alternate, must continue to perform the duties of their position until relieved by proper authority. The incumbent, or designated alternate, may be required to participate in readiness exercises. This position cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capabilities of the organization to function effectively; therefore, the position is designated "key", which requires the incumbent to be screened from military recall status.
Positions that are supervisory/ managerial require that first time supervisors/managers complete a one-year trial/probationary period if not previously completed in a competitive or other excepted service position.
