Student Services Officer, Center for Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity The School of Humanities and Sciences (H&S) is the foundation of a liberal arts education at Stanford. The school encompasses 24 departments and 24 interdisciplinary programs. H&S serves as the foundation of a Stanford undergraduate education no matter which discipline students pursue as a major.

Department/Program Description: The Center for Comparative Studies in Race & Ethnicity's (CCSRE) mission is to advance racial equity through interdisciplinary education, innovative research, and community engagement. The Center houses an interdisciplinary academic program, a Research Institute, and multiple initiatives that engage Stanford scholars and students as well as the broader community.

Position Summary: The Center for Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity is seeking a Student Services Officer (SSO). The SSO is responsible for administering student services for five undergraduate programs with over 100 declared majors and minors as well as for a Ph.D. Minor program with over 30 graduate students. The SSO works directly with faculty, staff, and lecturers across all five of the Center's interdisciplinary programs to ensure courses are accurately listed and updated.

CORE DUTIES: Oversee, review, and administer student records by analyzing data, counseling students, and providing recommendations. Develop recommendations and collaborate with staff, faculty, and other offices to resolve programmatic issues. Provide advice to students on academic progress, program policies, career plans, and community standards. Apprise students of research, fellowship, and scholarship opportunities. Provide first-line response to identify students in crisis and refer to appropriate resources. Collect and analyze data from multiple sources including student feedback and surveys. Develop, analyze, influence, and review policies, processes, and programs. Identify trends, perform needs analysis, and participate in the implementation of new technology. May develop marketing materials and strategies for program activities. May train and supervise other staff, volunteers, and students. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Basic computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite. Basic analysis and problem-solving skills. Relevant computer systems/technology experience. Understanding of financial transactions. Ability to learn compliance with legal, financial, and university policies. In addition, preferred requirements include:

Experience with race and ethnic studies and/or with race- and ethnicity-based communities. Experience with accessibility. WORKING CONDITIONS: Frequently sit, perform desk-based computer tasks. Occasionally stand, walk, twist, and use fine manipulation. The expected pay range for this position is $77,397 to $87,253 per annum.
