Your Role:
The Student Services Assistant plays a key role in supporting students throughout their program, assisting with various aspects of student life, local culture, community integration, and program administration. This role will require collaboration with program staff and interaction with students to ensure a positive and supportive experience.
What You'll Do:

Serve as the primary point of contact for students, addressing questions and providing information about resources and general inquiries. Engage with students regularly to assess their morale, identify any challenges they may be facing, and address their concerns, while keeping the program staff informed. Support students throughout the duration of their program, including accompanying them to local appointments as needed. Collaborate with the Program Assistant to facilitate and manage local activities and excursions, which may include chaperone duties. Work with the Housing Coordinator to address housing maintenance issues, seeking resolutions and possibly visiting student accommodations. Assist with the coordination of student arrivals and related tasks. Manage reception desk duties, including handling phone calls, visitors, mail, and packages. Ensure that all program materials are up-to-date and accessible to students; provide regular updates through newsletters or similar communications about events and information relevant to the student experience. Remind students to use the Onsolve app for check-ins to enable CEA CAPA staff to offer support during weekend travels. Participate in weekly staff meetings and collaborate with external vendors as needed. Be part of the emergency phone rotation as required. What Makes a Great Candidate:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification. Authorization to work in Italy. Fluency in spoken and written English and Italian. Passion for supporting and working with young adults. At least 2 years of experience in a study abroad environment or a related field. Proficient in using PC (Microsoft Office) and comfortable with IT troubleshooting. Soft Skills:
Friendly personality, outgoing demeanor, conversationalist. Knowledge and strong familiarity of Florence and its cultural offerings. Ability to address both daily work and unanticipated situations. Display excellent communication and organizational skills. Attention to detail and particularly to the U.S. value of customer service. Exhibit flexibility when scheduling will require, and in facing unforeseen challenges during a work day. Skilled as both an independent worker and in working in a team; collaborative and able to work towards a common goal with a good sense of humor. Hours: This is a full-time position with a standard work schedule of either 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM or 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM. Occasional overtime, both planned and unplanned, may be required, along with some weekend work for excursions.
