Transport/Logistics/Container Handling Purpose of the job Ensuring that the right quantity of operative staff with the correct qualifications is present during the shifts to perform the operations according to daily demand and customer requirements while taking into consideration the economic impact.
Responsibilities: Calculation of staff requirement to carry out operations within timeframe requested by the customer Operation planning in cooperation with Control Room, General Cargo, Shift Leaders and Operational Manager Optimizing staff distribution to cover peak situations and avoiding idle shifts by organizing shift changes or overtime and shifting flexible work packages Assigning daily jobs to operative staff under consideration of individual qualifications, training necessities and role rotation Ordering of lashing personnel corresponding to calculated operations productivity Monitoring equipment availability and coordinating maintenance works Updating HR software with relevant information on shift changes, double shifts, extra indemnities, absences etc.
Ordering third party personnel to enforce operations where necessary Managing the constellation of the teams per shift to ensure a balance of personnel quantity, qualifications and quality Managing the holiday planning of the operative staff Planning the participation to courses and trainings under consideration of operational workload Planning and follow up on progress of internal job training ("training on the job") Administration of operative staff presences and absences (parental leave, additional resting days, other absent permits (grief, blood donation, 104) Communication of daily staff presences to port authorities Invoice verification Communication of company medical visits to the operative staff Requirements: High School graduation (technical field is preferred) Knowledge of port environment and operational processes Awareness about economic impact of staff planning decisions Behavioral competences required (e.g., organizational skills, ability to lead a team, etc.)
Communication, social and interpersonal skills Sensibility towards and understanding of individual staff situations / motivations Ability for working autonomously / independently and self-organisation Fluent spoken and written Italian is a must Intermediate English spoken HHLA PLT Italy is part of HHLA Group, with over 6,400 employees worldwide.
