Location: We are recruiting a staff accountant for an entry level position in our tax department in our Syracuse office.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Work to assist team in planning and preparing various tax returns including individual, business, and trust returns. Assist with bookkeeping or data entry. Financial statement preparation, compilation, and review. Assisting with tax planning and estimates. Responding to routine IRS or state tax notices. Conducting research using internet-based tools with ability to communicate and document the results orally and/or written in a clear and concise manner. Display a basic understanding of professional standards, GAAP, tax laws/rules. Assume responsibility for completing work accurately and on a timely basis. Work on special projects as needed with strong attention to detail. Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting with 150 credit hours or working toward the 150 hours for CPA eligibility in New York State. CPA (or actively preparing for the CPA examination). 0 – 2 years' experience. New or upcoming college graduates are encouraged to apply. Ability to manage multiple projects, be organized, dependable, prioritize and follow Firm policies/procedures. Ability to work directly with clients and have a commitment to exceptional client service. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong problem solving and analytical skills. Ability to work with various software programs, including Microsoft Office. Valid driver's license required for possible travel at clients' offices using a personal vehicle. Must have the ability to work additional hours during busy season as applicable and needed. Salary: $50,000 to $60,000 based on education/CPA eligibility, CPA certification and years of experience.
