We're looking for people who are determined to make life better for people around the world.ResponsibilitiesMain responsibilities are the Continuous improvement of DPEM (Drug Product External Manufacturing) aiming at enabling Operational Excellence including evolution of business processes through simplification, standardization and digitalization.
Also the role will have the responsibility to develop and influence strategies related to Drug Product External Manufacturing and will enable innovation and an outside-in perspective on manufacturing best practices through external focus.Key Objectives/Deliverables:Continuous improvement and Operational Excellence:Develop and implement operational excellence strategies to improve external manufacturing processes, increase organizational effectiveness and efficiency, and maximize valueEstablish an operational excellence roadmap for external manufacturingDrive a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence across the organizationCollaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements and best practices in external manufacturingLead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Six Sigma methodologies to enhance overall external manufacturing performanceEstablish enhanced dashboards and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track performance in all key dimensionsMonitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress on key objectivesWork through DPEM governance bodies to identify areas for improvement and track actions implementationEnsure that business processes and procedures are up to date, aligned with Manufacturing Standards of Excellence (MSOEs), and reflect standardized and optimized processesExternal Manufacturing Strategy:Develop and drive the DPEM strategic planDrive innovation to ensure DPEM can achieve its intended mission during a period of significant growthActively manage the evolution of the DPEM oversight model in collaboration with the DPEM functional leaders to maximize its effectiveness and efficiencyDevelop external contract manufacturer portfolio strategies to ensure alignment with company long term goals and objectivesFunction as the primary interface with the Procurement and Manufacturing strategy teams to influence the CM selection process and sourcing recommendationsCollaborate with the Lead Team to develop and implement strategies that enhance the overall performance of the external manufacturing operations in line with company goals and objectivesEnable external focus and bring in the external perspectiveProactively engage in industry forums and develop external networks with pharma companies and consultants to monitor industry trendsStay up to date on industry trends, best practices, and competitive benchmarksResearch and implement new methodologies that can further enhance operational efficiencyDigitalization:Develop and drive the digitalization and automation strategy for DPEM in collaboration with Tech at LillyCollaborate with DPEM leadership to identify opportunities for the digitalization and automation of DPEM internal and external processesEstablish a digitalization roadmap for external manufacturing based on pre-established criteriaIntegrate the DPEM business plan, strategic plan, and strategy & ops plan to ensure plans are implemented in a timely manner and initiatives are resourced appropriatelyCollaborate with external partners and Tech@Lilly on digitalization effortsDefine digitalization opportunities related to any business or physical process including, but not limited to, orders management, documentation management, and process monitoringDefine plans for the automation of routine information flow between Lilly and Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs)Influence the digitalization journey of the external manufacturing processes and interfaces with CMOs through external industry forumsLeadership and Collaboration:Serve as a core member of the DPEM Lead TeamLead and manage the DPEM Continuous Improvement teamTrain, coach and mentor DPEM leaders to enable a strong organizational culture of continuous improvement and operational excellencePrepare and present reports on operational performance and improvement initiatives to senior managementProactively and periodically prepare reports on best practices, using external benchmarks, to enable internal replication as appropriateEstablish and manage an internal prioritization processBasic QualificationsBachelor's degree in STEM or business administration field10+ years in Drug Products Making MedicinesStrong leadership and relationship skillsAbility to identify process improvement opportunitiesStrategic and analytical mindsetDemonstrated ability to lead organizational changeExcellent communication and presentation skillsDynamic thinking and problem-solving abilitiesGood coaching and mentoring skillsAdditional Skills/PreferencesExperience working at a manufacturing siteExperience as a Lead Team member of an external manufacturing team MBAExperience managing
