Our beautiful Grand Hotel Timeo, a Belmond Hotel in Sicily is searching for a talented Sommelier to join our team of passionate professionals The ideal candidate is willing to provide excellent and personalized guest experiences, he / she should have exceptional taste and exemplary customer service skills. The sommelier is responsible for the selection of wines and their service throughout the Food and Beverage operation. The position is based in Taormina, Sicily and the contract is full time. You must possess the legal right to work in Italy / EU. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Anticipate guests needs, providing an excellent and personalized guest experience according to our service standards; Collaborate with the Bar Manager and Restaurant Manager to establish the wine selection; Develop special events about wine; Cooperate with the Restaurant Manager for staff development; Inventory and requisitions: assist in monitoring stock levels and ordering replacement deliveries. Avoid any waste and capable to control beverage margins; Compliance with health and safety regulations. To maintain the appropriate levels of beverage stocks by monitoring purchases and sales, ensuring professional, efficient and accurate service of all types of beverages, but with a focus on wines, in order to completely satisfy our guests during their meal experience. Requirements Previous experience in similar and/or related fields in a 5* Hotel. At least 2 years experience at same level. Fluent English and additional languages desirable Sommelier Association membership degree appreciated (AIS or WSET) PERSONAL PROFILE Ensures a team spirit and working discipline. Make sure that all rules and regulations according to Belmond guidelines are in use. Displays emotional maturity and sensitivity in dealing with others. Organised and demonstrates good planning skills Operates with integrity and objectivity at all times Proactive to address and resolve issues Delivers results within a pressurised deadline driven environment.
