PURPOSE AND SCOPE:The Staff Engineer works largely unsupervised, mentoring and teaching subordinate department or group members to improve their product knowledge, subject matter understanding, skills, and productivity. The Staff Engineer will also be involved in strategic activities, process improvements, and specific scientific studies for research and development. The Staff Engineer often leads either internal Cross Technical Teams (CTT) or external Cross Functional Teams (CFT) and is responsible for driving associated projects to completion. The Staff Engineer functions as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on respective products and disciplines and may manage various aspects of products from development, changes, improvements, and replacements.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Offer comprehensive HR expertise and advice across various employee relations matters, including performance management, workplace investigations, pay issues, and employee policy inquiries.Handle sensitive and complex HR investigations for all Company business lines in Slovakia.Engage in Works Council and union negotiations, contract management, and manage collective bargaining agreement requirements.Provide guidance regarding performance management plans and all aspects of progressive discipline.Identify root cause issues in employee engagement and provide conflict resolution skills.Ensure proper use of the case management system and provide complete documentation and reporting.Provide education, training, and coaching to managers on conflict management and performance management.Facilitate exit interviews with voluntarily terminating employees when requested.Perform additional duties as assigned.Additional responsibilities may include focus on one or more departments or locations:Architect, design, and develop robust, scalable IoT software solutions from asset connectivity to data aggregation.Develop testable Technical and Functional user stories and software system requirements.Contribute significantly to at least one IoT / Connected Product project.Utilize various Azure services to develop and deploy scalable solutions.Have at least 10 years as a software engineer, with 5+ years of technical leadership in C#, .NET, React, Python, etc.Demonstrate excellent communication skills and lead, organize, and support the engineering team.Commit to continuous learning on Azure updates and industry trends; Azure Certifications preferred.Implement and enforce security standards, design, and measures.Prevent performance bottlenecks through good architecture and design practices.Experience in full SDLC and Agile development methodology is preferred.Experience in Thingworx Foundation & Thingworx Utilities is a plus.Be highly motivated and passionate about creating high-quality software.PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:This position requires approximately 10%-30% travel, dependent upon country requirements.EDUCATION AND REQUIRED CREDENTIALS:Bachelor or master degree in computer science, Computer Engineering or related fields.EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:3+ years of progressive experience directly in Employee Relations/ Human Resources.Experience in managing works councils and union relations.Demonstrate good judgment and objectivity in decision making.Resilient with the ability to hold crucial conversations.Collaborate at all levels through listening and sharing ideas.Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal including English.Commitment to confidentiality, integrity, and privacy.Healthcare experience a plus.
