North Point Defense is looking for a Software Engineer to join its growing team of scientists and engineers, developing complete systems and software applications for our DoD and commercial customers.
This position may require an active Security Clearance.
Depending on level, a Software Engineer's responsibilities include requirements gathering, system analysis and design, coding in various languages, documentation, testing, training and integration.
Our ideal candidates are familiar with the full software development life cycle.
They can contribute on cross-functional teams delivering solutions to our customers given technical constraints, coding and quality standards.Responsibilities may include:Execute full software development life cycleDevelop documentation to identify requirements and solutionsWrite well-designed, testable codeProduce specifications and determine operational feasibilityIntegrate software components into a fully functional software systemDevelop software verification plans and quality assurance proceduresDocument and maintain software functionalityTroubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing systemsDeploy programs and evaluate user feedbackComply with project plans and industry standardsPreferred experience includes:Knowledge and experience with Redhat and Ubuntu Linux operating system.Programming experience with Java, C, C++, Python and/or Shell Scripting.Knowledge and experience with SDR technologies and environments.Knowledge and experience with embedded processing environments.Proficiency in software engineering toolsAbility to document requirement and specificationsObject-oriented analysis and designExperience developing client-server applicationsNetwork programming with TCP sockets (experience with UDP is a plus)Experience with version control systems such as Git, Subversion and threading concurrencyDevelopment experience in Linux environments (RedHat, Ubuntu)Software testing and documentationA solid foundation in computer science with demonstrated competency in data structures, algorithms and software designApplicants selected may be subject to a security investigation to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information (Security Clearance).
