You'll know exactly who needs what and when, you'll remember their names and you'll use your creativity to deliver a fantastic bar experience every time.In your role as Shift Engineer, you'll perform all duties connected to engineering management, equipment maintenance, system setup, and safety compliance in your area, ensuring that the highest quality, efficiency, and safety standards are met and maintained at all times.

You'll also take responsibility for your own development, embracing training opportunities that we offer, while learning from any challenges and mistakes along the way.You'll complete tasks relevant to your engineering function, ensuring timely and efficient resolution of issues and maintenance tasks, liaising with relevant teams to ensure guest satisfaction.You'll follow guidance and instructions given by the leadership team, supported by the company's standard operating procedures related to emergency and evacuation procedures.
Report any incidents, accidents, or maintenance faults that may jeopardize guest or colleague satisfaction, health, and wellbeing.
Attend and complete all mandatory Health & Safety training.You'll communicate effectively with both internal and external guests (including hotel colleagues) via written correspondence, phone, and face-to-face.You'll display a passionate approach towards the improvement of new methods of service.Actively contribute to preparing, maintaining, and repairing all equipment to ensure high quality and minimize downtime to ensure operational costs remain within specified budgets.You'll engage with colleagues and guests in relation to their stay; confidently handle special maintenance-related requests and consistently exhibit appropriate service behavior.You'll demonstrate flexibility and adaptability when personalizing external and internal guests' needs and the changing demand and priorities of the business.You'll create a welcoming atmosphere and personalized service for each individual external and internal guest, having an eye for detail and responding appropriately to guest and leadership feedback.You'll actively contribute to your immediate and wider hotel team, use all forms of communication appropriate for each situation, and display positive and open body language.
Identify opportunities and improvements to ways of working while being solution-focused on operational needs of the hotel.You'll provide leadership through leading by example, clearly communicating both operational and strategic information, ensuring team members are trained and developed, empowering your team, and providing an inspiring service culture.You'll share best practices with regards to quality control, Health & Safety, efficiency, and profitability.You'll ensure that all activities are in compliance with national laws and regulations, management decisions, and PPHE Hotel Group's operating policies, processes, and procedures.What you bring:You're a great communicator and a collaborative team player.You have your relevant engineering qualifications and certifications.You have a working knowledge of the H&S regulations, HVAC systems, electrical systems, plumbing, and other critical hotel equipment.You're great at building relationships with external suppliers.You're a great role model for timekeeping, respect, and attitude.You're brilliant at handling guest complaints and resolving them immediately.There's a lot more to this job than we've given you here – don't worry, we'll fill you in on everything before you begin.
