The Exoskeletons Lab is part of the Advanced Robotics research unit, directed by Prof. Darwin Caldwell. This large department focuses on an innovative, multidisciplinary approach to robot design and control.
YOUR TEAM
You will be working in a multi-disciplinary group, where researchers from a range of scientific and engineering backgrounds collaborate to create novel solutions to key problems in robotics.
The candidate will build on the recent results achieved in successfully using mixed reality interfaces for training to prevent accidents, protect workers at heights, and enhance worker performance using different motion platforms. The candidate is expected to conduct scholarly research, publish academic papers, and collaborate with other research groups to advance the state-of-the-art and make a significant impact.
The candidate should be proficient in computer graphics programming and have prior experience with mixed reality (MR) systems. A strong publication record and experience in preparing research proposals are advantageous. A background in applied machine learning and artificial intelligence is highly valued.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
You have completed a PhD in Computer Science or a related field, specializing in Human-Computer Interaction in Mixed reality environments. You have demonstrative expertise in interactive technologies, with peer-reviewed publications on the topic in international venues. Experience with interactive and immersive user interaction systems using mixed reality systems, e.g., Unity, Unreal, etc., is a definite plus! Experience in applied machine learning / deep learning for immersive human-computer interaction is a plus. Proficiency in computer graphics programming. Required experience with version control software, e.g., git, svn; This is an applied research position, so evidence of applied / practical research accomplishment is vital. Strong team player, able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary, international research team and carry out tasks autonomously. Strong communication and English language skills (both written and spoken) are required. COMPENSATION PACKAGE
