Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.
We want you as a talented and versatile Senior System Engineer for Parachute to help us in integrating the parachute system that will enable the recovery and thus the reusability of Nyx.
You will be part of the Vehicle Design Team and will report directly to the Deputy Vehicle Design Lead.
You will work in close collaboration with the Avionic Team, the Flight Software Team and the GNC Team.
Key ResponsibilitiesIn your capacity as the Senior System Engineer for Parachute, your role will continuously evolve, but initially your day to day duties will include:
Ensure the integration and delivery On Time, On Quality and On Cost of the parachute system for the first Nyx Earth iteration, acting as main Point of Contact with the supplier.Maintain and ensure the compliance with the parachute system requirements.Act as the Functional Chain responsible for the parachute system functions and ensure definition and verification of both nominal and off-nominal behaviors, including the interfaces with the avionics system and the flight software, and all safety and reliability aspects.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including Avionics, GNC and Flight Software to integrate the parachute system into the overall Nyx design.Drive design reviews, technical meetings, and problem-solving sessions to address engineering challenges and ensure design integrity of the parachute system.Drive the preparation of development and verification activities and ensure the availability of hardware for verification activities related to the parachute system.What we would love to see from youIn the role of Senior System Engineer for Parachute ideally, you will have the following:
Master's degree in Aeronautic or Aerospace Engineering, or any another related field.5+ years of experience in design, analysis, and testing of aerospace or space-related systems, with a focus on parachute system highly preferred.Proven ability to manage technical requirements, ensuring they align with overall system objectives and mission goals.Experience with space mission requirements, standards, and protocols related to parachute system is highly advantageous.Proven ability to interact and manage suppliers.Familiarity with tools like GitHub and Python.Skills and BehavioursStrong oral and written communication skillsAbility to work effectively with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.Strong analysis and problem-solving skillsStrong organizing and prioritization of tasksPositive and flexible attitude to get the job doneAbility to communicate at all levels of the businessDemonstrates behaviours consistent with The Exploration Company's core values of Mission, Vision, Integrity, Excellence and TeamworkSpace enthusiast: ready to change the European space industryWhy you should join us!What makes us special here at The Exploration Company and why we think you will enjoy working here is:
