RINA is currently recruiting for a Senior SW Embedded Engineer to join its office in Rome within the Aerospace & Defence Division.
Mission The role focuses on designing, developing, and verifying embedded software for avionics systems. This role requires a strong understanding of real-time embedded systems, as well as expertise in software development and system integration. You will collaborate closely with hardware engineers, system architects, and other stakeholders to ensure that our avionics systems meet the highest standards of safety, reliability, and performance.
Key Accountabilities Software Development: Design and implement embedded software applications for avionics systems. Develop software in compliance with DO-178C or similar safety-critical standards. Implement software requirements and design specifications. Integrate software onto target equipment. System Design: Participate in the definition of system architecture and software requirements. Work with systems engineers to allocate requirements to software components. Conduct trade-off analyses to determine optimal solutions. System Integration: Debug the embedded software onto the target equipment. Support the V&V team during testing and validation activities for defect analysis. Solve detected problems implementing the needed corrections. Documentation: Prepare and maintain software documentation in accordance with company and industry standards. Generate reports and documentation for regulatory compliance. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with hardware engineers to ensure seamless integration of software and hardware components. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and optimize system performance. Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide status updates and technical assessments. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in avionics software. Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance software development lifecycle. Education Master's Degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
Qualifications Solid understanding of embedded systems and real-time operating systems (RTOS). Experience in software development for safety-critical systems, ideally in aviation (DO-178C). Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, and Ada. Familiarity with software development and configuration tools (e.g., compilers, debuggers, static analysis tools, versioning and configuration tools). Knowledge of embedded HW interfaces (e.g., UART, CAN, SPI, I2C, discrete and analogue signals). Knowledge of avionic communication protocols (e.g., ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553) is a plus.
