About the Role In this role you are responsible for Casualty risk assessment for the chemical industry as well as power generation, manufacturing industry and energy technologies.
You will identify and analyze existing and emerging risks in these industries and contribute to the development of related reinsurance underwriting and portfolio management strategies.
Key Responsibilities: Conduct risk assessments, develop and update risk assessment methodologies and tools to support the underwriting of portfolios or individual risks, typically large industrial companies.
Execute Casualty Reinsurance Strategy through internal and external positioning and thought leadership.
This includes: Development of guidelines and documents for decision making.
Knowledge transfer to underwriting staff.
Support in client negotiations.
Delivering presentations at client or industry events.
Conducting workshops and seminars.
Producing external technical reports and publications.
About the Team You will work closely with the Casualty Risk Engineering Services team.
We are an international team with a global remit in Swiss Re's Underwriting Excellence group.
Our task is to understand technical and scientific developments and put them into an insurance context.
About You We are looking for a flexible and innovative teammate with strong organizational and project leadership skills.
As a strong communicator, you can explain complex problems with clarity and effectiveness and present them accordingly.
You have a high degree of initiative and demonstrate a strong interest in interdisciplinary work.
Education and Technical Skills: Master's degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, or chemical process engineering.
Professional experience in the respective industry is a must.
Digital literate and tech savvy.
Handling of data, databases, and analytics dashboards.
Experience in programming is a plus.
Familiarity with all Microsoft Office products.
Business fluency (written and verbal) in English.
Nice to Haves: Degree in environmental engineering or energy science/technology.
Expertise in risk management, quality, and safety management.
Know-how about legal and regulatory frameworks impacting insurance.
