Valmet, a leading global developer and supplier of process technologies, automation, and services for the pulp, paper, and energy industries, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Project Manager to join our team in Milan. This is a permanent role with the opportunity for internal development and hybrid work option.
As Senior Project Manager, you will be instrumental in driving the growth and success of Valmet's Analyzer Products and Integration (API) Business Unit in Europe. This role demands extensive experience in process analytical solutions, project execution, engineering design, personnel management, and customer relations within the chemical, petrochemical, and refining industries.
You will lead solutions development, project management, and scope definition, ensuring effective project engineering, equipment selection, and collaboration with third-party suppliers.
Reporting to James Dorsey, this position offers a significant opportunity to influence the business's expansion and innovation.
Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage Valmet API BU solutions business activities in Europe, overseeing personnel, project scope, financial and delivery performance, and customer satisfaction.Execute project management, planning, and scheduling duties.Manage engineering resources and determine proper analytical system integration solutions.Define project scope, equipment selection, specifications, cost estimates, and schedules.Evaluate and select equipment to meet customer specifications.Direct project design, including creating detailed drawings and schematics.Lead Bill of Material selection and approve equipment purchase requisitions.Support production and inspect third-party supplier milestones and final acceptance.Assist technicians during testing and customer FAT phases, ensuring final delivery.Requirements: Educational Background: bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry, physics, or equivalent. Alternatively, 15+ years of relevant experience in the Process Analyzer business.Extensive Experience: at least 10 years of proven success in a project engineering role, serving as the lead engineer.Expertise in Equipment and Materials: over 10 years of experience in selecting equipment and materials.Customer Relations: over 10 years of experience as the primary technical contact for customers on assigned projects.Communication Skills: exceptional ability to communicate complex design requirements with key customers, project management teams, engineering/design teams, and production staff.Technical Proficiency: proficiency in MS Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook), various engineering calculation tools, and completion of PIP forms.Travel Availability: willingness to travel up to 20% of the time to support business needs and client engagements.What We Offer:
