NHOA S.A. (formerly Electro Power Systems - Engie EPS), a global player in energy storage and e-mobility, is actively involved in the construction of the largest fast and ultra-fast charging infrastructure in Southern Europe. The company develops technologies that enable the transition towards clean energy and sustainable mobility, shaping the future of a next generation living in harmony with our planet. It operates through its three Global Business Lines: NHOA Energy, Free2move eSolutions, and Atlante.
Born in 2005 as a technological spin-off of the Politecnico di Torino and Milano, NHOA leverages its best-in-class technology and engineering edge, developed in over 15 years of R&D, paired with strategic partnerships and global procurement, to deliver the most competitive tailor-made turn-key solutions that allow the integration of renewable sources with all forms of energy storage, from batteries to hydrogen and even electric vehicles. NHOA, with offices in France, the United States, and Australia, maintains entirely in Italy research, development, and production of its technologies.
Position: Senior Power System Engineer We're looking for a Senior Power System Engineer to join the Grid Integration office in the Engineering department to contribute on the execution of electrical power system studies (including proposing, planning, managing, performing analysis, and reporting out) to meet the reliability and performance needs of our BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) projects.
Key Activities: Perform independent analyses of steady-state and dynamic performance as well as conducting different types of control modeling and simulation studies of NHOA's energy storage systems, using industrial power system simulation software.
Perform grid studies for integration of NHOA's BESS and other demand/supply sources to identify system impact and required remedies.
Communicate effectively with clients and the technical sales team to support their analytical, equipment design, application and/or compliance needs, and resolve issues promptly.
Tasks and Duties: Interface with utilities, independent power providers, and system operators in technical power systems discussions to influence our systems design for scaling on the grid.
Collaborate with both product design and firmware/software teams to keep models updated with the company technology platform.
Work with customers and our technical sales team to define the optimal design and settings of NHOA's BESS, running power flow, dynamic models, and real-time simulations.
Support the engineering team throughout the grid interconnection process, interfacing with utilities, independent power providers, and system operators in technical power systems discussions as well as engaging with external consultants when needed.
Increase our in-house capability to model NHOA solutions in different power system tools, such as PSCAD, DIgSILENT, and PSSE.
Monitor Grid Code requisites and their evolution trend, as well as new requirements observed in ongoing offers and execution projects, providing inputs to NHOA R&D offices to keep models always updated with the current State-Of-Art.
Maintenance of internal tools used for technical sales and execution studies.

At least 3-5 years of experience in this field (PhD duration can be deducted).
A minimum of 1-year experience in industrial/power system consultancy projects is mandatory.
Expert knowledge of at least two power system modelling tools, specifically PSCAD/EMTP-RV, DIgSILENT, PSS/E.
Direct experience in modelling large and small power grids with deep understanding of Grid Code performance requirements.
Strong expertise on control schemes of synchronous generator and inverter-based resources, including familiarity with grid forming operation.
Experience in conducting interconnection and engineering studies like stability analysis, harmonic analysis, and protection coordination is preferred.
Strong knowledge of at least one programming language: Fortran, Python, C, C++.
Strong working knowledge of control theory, including small signal analyses and, preferably, optimal control.
Solid Simulink and scripting skills.
