POSITION TITLE: Senior Network Engineer REPORTS TO: Technical Manager LOCATION: Hybrid
JOB OVERVIEW: Backcountry is seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Network Engineer to join our outdoor retail ecommerce company. As a Senior Network Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the network infrastructure that supports our online platform. RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Network Design and Planning: Advanced knowledge of design and implement scalable and secure network architectures to support our ecommerce operations.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into network solutions.Conduct regular assessments of the network infrastructure to identify areas for improvement and propose enhancements.Network Implementation and Configuration: Install, configure, and maintain network hardware and software components, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, SDWAN and GCP cloud.Ensure network connectivity across multiple locations, both physical and virtual, and troubleshoot any connectivity issues that arise.Implement and enforce network security measures to protect sensitive customer and company data.Network Monitoring and Optimization: Monitor network performance and proactively identify and resolve network-related problems and bottlenecks.Conduct regular performance analysis and capacity planning to ensure optimal network performance and scalability.Implement network monitoring tools and establish alerts and notifications for network incidents.Network Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures.Prepare and present reports on network performance, availability, and security to management and relevant stakeholders.Collaborate with other teams to ensure effective communication and coordination of network-related activities.Network Security and Compliance: Implement and enforce network security policies and measures to protect against unauthorized access and data breaches.Stay updated on the latest network security threats and vulnerabilities and recommend and implement appropriate security controls.Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to network security and data protection.QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCIE) are a plus.Proven experience as a Network Engineer, preferably in a retail or ecommerce environment.Advanced knowledge of network protocols, routing, switching, and firewall technologies.Experience with network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, cloud Wi-Fi, SDWAN and load balancers.Proficiency in network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.Familiarity with network security principles, practices, and technologies.Excellent command of English is required.US Visa and ability to travel to the US is required. This will be dependent on business needs, with a maximum of four times a year, with an average duration of one week or less.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Knowledge of PCI controls are a plus.ABOUT BACKCOUNTRY: Our mission is to connect people to their passions.
