The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) provides critical Supply Chain, Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies services and Training to all Secretariat Entities, Peacekeeping and Special Political Missions, Agencies, Funds and Programmes of the UN system worldwide.
This position is located in the United Nations Global Service Centre, Brindisi, Italy within the Warehouse and Distribution Team, Delivery & Return Section, Supply Chain Service.
This position reports directly to the Warehouse and Distribution Team leader.
Responsibilities Supply: Assists the Logistics Officers in coordinating warehouse and distribution operations; surveys United Nations-owned equipment (UNOE), evaluates requirements, and recommends additions and deletions to Strategic Deployment Stocks of equipment and commodities.
Provides support to Logistics Officers in warehouse operations management and inventory control.
Verifies technical specifications, inspections, and certifies documentation with respect to receipts and issues.
Coordinates the execution of disposal activities and asset liquidation processes.
Maintains liaison with relevant departments and field missions with respect to the status of warehousing, distribution, physical verification, and liquidation matters.
Warehouse: Coordinates the execution of technical evaluations for long and short-term contracts.
Provides and coordinates remote support for mission liquidation operations, ensuring compliant and timely physical inspections while certifying acceptance or rejection of reports.
Supervises generating warehouse and inventory management system reports to ensure data accuracy for warehouse and distribution teams' invoice payments, identifying and addressing discrepancies as needed.
Ensures adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to enhance inventory and warehouse management efficiency across warehouse operations within the W&D.
Liaises with stakeholders on warehouse operations and inventory status and provides support for contract management and technical evaluations, assisting in budget formulation and submitting financial and inventory reports.
General: Supervises assigned staff.
Initiates requisitions and performs technical evaluations.
Formulates and monitors budget allocations.
Assists with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning and decision making.
Assists with visualizations and updating information material such as web pages or brochures.
Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Requirements Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Job - Specific Qualification: Certificate or Diploma in Logistics and Transport, or other Supply Chain Operations, such as SCOR-P certification, is required.
Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable.
Work Experience: A minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience of practical logistics operations is required.
The minimum years of relevant work experience is reduced to eight (8) years for candidates who possess a first level university degree or higher.
Experience with ERP systems is required.
Experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
Languages: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
Fluency in English, (both oral and written) is required.
Assessment: Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
