We are looking for a Senior Ground Segment System Engineer on behalf of and in support of our client for their location in Rome, Italy. The selected candidate should show integrity and professionalism. Please note, the successful candidate will be employed by ATG Europe (or one of its subsidiaries). Furthermore, upon selection, they will be subject to a general security screening performed by an external provider (further information will be provided at the interview stage).
The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to:
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Engineering technical support to User Ground Segment management; Technical management of subsystems design activities down to component level: understanding and management of system requirements, apportionment to technical specifications (H/W and SW); Definition of ground element design and development framework; Definition and justification of S/S architecture, from concept to detailed design phase, examining the Integration, Verification and Validation plans and procedures; Definition and control of S/S technical interfaces, internal and external (towards space and launch segments); Definition and control of software technical budget and margins, supporting software design and development processes in coordination with partners and third parties; Reviewing of technical documentation from suppliers and third parties; Technical management of network and software application security. University degree or equivalent qualification in a technical discipline; Master's degree or comparable in Computer Engineering; Professional experience of at least five years in Ground Segment (G/S) engineering projects for space systems, in Phase C/D as mandatory; Professional experience of at least five years in the definition and design of S/S for EO systems for institutional and/or commercial customers; Strong competences in virtualization technologies and hypervisors (e.g., VMWare), including database virtualization; Knowledge of secure network architectures, vulnerability testing, threat modeling; Experience in the definition, management, and traceability of requirements structure with the support of DOORS; Proven capability to define G/S design throughout the support of model-based methods, techniques, and tools (e.g., SysML, UML); Sound knowledge of ground system engineering processes and ground system software life cycles; Sound knowledge of relevant ECSS standards; Excellent conceptual and analytical skills; Ability to devise creative solutions and think outside the box; Proven problem-solving and project team management skills; High level of flexibility, willingness to work in international teams and ability to keep tight schedules; High motivation, proactive working approach, and strong sense of responsibility; Excellent communication, presentation, and documentation skills; Fluency in both spoken and written (Business) English; Italian skills are desirable.
