Job Title: Senior Geotechnical Engineer RINA is currently recruiting for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join its office in Genoa, Milan, or Rome, Italy within the Energy Engineering Solutions Division.
Mission The successful candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and responsible for their technical duties, capable of working autonomously and under supervision, executing projects within the division, interfacing, and coordinating with other peers. You will work on challenging offshore and onshore projects, providing consultancy on ground characterization and foundation design.
Key Accountabilities Develop geotechnical engineering projects from the preliminary phase to the detailed design, as well as the technical control of projects developed by other parties under the supervision of a principal engineer or a managing engineer. Design foundation/retaining structures (bearing capacity, settlement, soil–structure interaction), slope stability, underground structures design, and other geotechnical topics. Develop finite element or difference models for static and dynamic analyses. Obtain soil and rock samples to determine compressibility, efficiency, strength, and other factors that affect the structure's behavior. Develop project schedules and deliverable timelines under the supervision of more experienced engineers. Prepare technical deliverables (technical reports, project performance documentation, and engineering drawings, etc). Prepare progress technical reports. Be aware of and understand the Quality Policy, ensuring that all assigned activities are executed in accordance with the RINA QMS. Education Master's Degree in Geotechnical Engineering
Qualifications Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with a proven track record of project development and design. PhD is advisable. Experience in offshore campaigns is considered a plus.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in geotechnical engineering principles and practices, with a strong background in foundation and retaining structure design, slope stability analysis, underground structures design, and other geotechnical topics. Experience in developing finite element or difference models for static and dynamic analyses. Ability to interpret results from laboratory testing to determine compressibility, strength, and other factors affecting structure behavior. Experience in the use of main geotechnics software packages (Plaxis, Gint, GRLWeap, DeepSoil) or programming languages is considered a plus.
Offshore Work Availability to join offshore campaigns on board of vessels/platforms for a maximum continuous period of 30-40 days (1-2 times during a year).
