Senior Buyer & Category Manager (M/F/X) The Senior Buyer & Category Manager responsibilities are to lead, drive and support the local plant in all purchasing activities, reporting to the Supply Chain Director and Local Site Manager in a matrix driven organization. As part of the Category Manager duties, the job holder will be responsible for purchasing management of raw materials at the group level and supporting and reporting to the Supply Chain Director.
S/he will manage supplier relationships, guarantee and ensure supply chain reliability and control and mitigate risks to achieve business objectives.
Internal stakeholders will include local site managers, planning and local functions. Planning and purchasing representatives from all five plants (USA, Brazil, Belgium, Germany, Italy) will also be contacts in the context of global projects.
Your tasks as the Senior Buyer & Category Manager will include: Monitor and analyze market trends for local and global needs, identifying risks and suggesting opportunities. Defining strategies with the Supply Chain Director and the site manager. Scouting, selection, and approval of new suppliers. Negotiating prices and conditions to maximize company targets. Purchase order issue and agreement definitions. Purchasing budget and forecast preparation. ERP daily utilization. Expediting activities. Assist in tracking and arranging the return and receipt of non-conforming materials, in conjunction with quality. Building and maintaining good relations with suppliers. Work in synergy with requiring departments. Reporting activities for local management and Supply Chain Director. Managing relations with the purchasing organization in all the sites of the Group. Your knowledge, skills, and abilities: Very good negotiation skills and strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to procure goods and services. Knowledge of supply management including deep knowledge of all purchasing processes and requirements for quality systems, guidelines, standards and process management. Respect due dates. Ability to manage stress. Ability in working in multicultural environments. Analytical reasoning skills and independent and proactive way of working. Ability to effectively manage multiple problems/tasks and prioritize to meet deadlines. Ability to work well with ever-changing priorities and/or situations. Natural attitude in team working. High level in Excel competences. Experience in people management. Your education and experience: Masters or Bachelors Degree in economics, engineering or chemistry.
Years of experience: Approx. 4+ years in international environments.
Languages: Fluent in German and English is a requirement.
Travel: 20 to 30 % of the time.
Location: Berlin, Germany (Smart Working is part of our Group Policy).
