Position OverviewWe have an immediate need for a Senior Buyer who will support the purchasing initiatives within our Supply Chain team and ensure that the required focus is placed on the supply risks. The successful candidate will interface with production, engineering and product development groups to provide purchasing expertise and support best practices.
Position ResponsibilitiesEnsure that purchasing policies are followed and maintain all purchasing documentation.Arrange Supplier Meetings and follow up on actions and report preparation.Ensure that Purchase Orders (POs) are created on time while proactively identifying risks and providing mitigation plans.Continuously monitor and upgrade supplier performance whilst maintaining good supplier relationships.Responsible for procurement business system data input and integrity.Create and maintain bill of material and parts/commodities numbers in supply chain management or other enterprise-wide systems.Participate in maximizing the procurement teams' changes, part parameters; quote table maintenance, supplier database information, error report analysis, and part number/supplier code information.Perform cost analysis and volume planning for major commodities (e.g. materials, components, equipment and services).Monitor the cost, schedule and scope of assigned subcontracts to negotiate highest quality at best value. Develop new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are no longer competitive. May recommend cost-saving proposals including make-versus-buy analysis or alternative sourcing.Interact closely with suppliers and QA to resolve quality issues.Work with management to address all aspects of commodity management, including procurement support, commodity business plans, market trends assessment, pricing, and product availability.Position Requirements5+ years of experience as a Sourcing/Technical Buyer in Automotive or Industrial Environment.Certification from ISM or SCMA, PMP are highly desirable.Willing to travel occasionally- overseas.Requires domestic or global expertise of assigned commodities.
