(source: Newsweek ) Role Overview: The SEN Support Collaborator will work closely with students who have identified special educational needs, providing tailored support to help them succeed academically and socially.
This role involves working collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other support staff to implement individualized education plans (IEPs), adapt teaching methods, and ensure each student's needs are met.
Key Responsibilities: Work one-on-one or in small groups with students to provide personalized support based on their IEPs.
Collaborate with classroom teachers to adapt lesson plans and teaching strategies to accommodate students' learning styles and needs.
Conduct assessments and observations to track student progress, making adjustments to support plans as necessary.
Facilitate communication between teachers, parents, and external specialists (if needed) to ensure holistic and effective support.
Provide training and guidance to staff on best practices for inclusive education and managing SEN in the classroom.
Stay updated with the latest practices in special education and the IB framework to continuously enhance support for SEN students.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Educational Psychology, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
Relevant experience working with students with special educational needs in an educational setting, preferably within an IB or international school environment.
Strong understanding of various SEN challenges (e.g., dyslexia, autism spectrum disorder, ADHD) and the ability to tailor approaches to individual needs.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a compassionate and patient approach to working with students.
Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to foster a supportive and inclusive school environment.
