Job Description Position Title: Second Engineer Joining port: Point Noire, Congo Vessel Type: Pipelayer Vessel Operation Area: West Africa Contract Duration: 60 days Vessel Details Type: Pipelayer Vessel Flag: Italy - Built: 1975 (rebuilt in 2011) Tonnage: Gross Tonnage 13871 Key Responsibilities Assist the Chief Engineer in overseeing the vessel's technical operations and ensuring machinery functionality. Perform maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of all engine room machinery, systems, and equipment, including propulsion and auxiliary machinery. Monitor and manage daily engine room operations, ensuring compliance with company procedures and international maritime standards. Maintain records for planned and unplanned maintenance using the vessel's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Ensure the safe and efficient operation of systems critical to pipelaying activities, including hydraulic systems, winches, and cranes. Supervise engine room personnel and coordinate their activities to ensure smooth and efficient operations. Conduct regular inspections of engine room systems and equipment to prevent malfunctions. Monitor fuel, lubricant, and consumable inventories, preparing requisitions when necessary. Participate in safety drills and ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies. Assist in compiling reports on machinery performance and any incidents during operations. Requirements Valid STCW III/2 (Second Engineer) Certificate of Competency released in Italy OR at least a valid Italian Endorsement. Previous experience on pipelayer, construction, or offshore vessels preferred. Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and auxiliary machinery. Proficiency in engine room management and troubleshooting. Familiarity with ISM Code and safety management systems. Fluency in Italian (both written and spoken) is mandatory.
