**Accountabilities**
We are looking for a**Sales Manager**responsible for supporting Hitachi Rail's expansion into the European and Domestic railway market, including having an active lead role in bids for identified projects opportunities and providing technical knowledge and support in pre-bidding phases, who will:
- Identify appropriate contacts in organisations, generate leads with prospective customers and partners
- Scouting for and identify business opportunities, including new markets, trends, customers, partners, products and services
- Support the development of markets and industry segments business analysis
- Understand the needs of customers and be able to respond effectively with a plan of how to meet them, setting objectives in order to develop and improve the business
- Provide technical added value in pre-bidding discussions and engagements with the market through having a good understanding of Hitachi Rail's product portfolio and industrial processes
- Support market dialogues and RFI (Request for Information) pre-bidding activities, including taking a lead role in responding to customers' questionnaires and liaising within Hitachi Rail as needed
- Support and contribute towards negotiations and contracts acquisition during bidding
- Contribute to global R&D roadmap and portfolio management by identifying technology trends and product needs
- Align promotional strategy and activities, including attend seminars, conferences and events, with Sales Senior Management and External Communications & Marketing
- Provide support in the corporate approval process according to the current standards and processes
- Comply with and implement Hitachi Rail's Health and Safety policy.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as may be required by the job
**Required Skills/Knowledge**
It is our expectation that successful applicants should be able to demonstrate all of the experience and skills listed below:
- Minimum 5 years' work experience in the railway industry in sales, business development or project management roles
- Experience with procurement/bidding portals or other IT data collection and analysis systems
- Tenacity and drive to seek new business and meet or exceed targets, high initiative and decision making skills, ability to think strategically
- Excellent presentation and communication skills needed for communicating effectively both orally and in writing with a wide range of people, both internally and externally, good networking skill
- Collaboration and good relationship management with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to prioritize and Meet Deadlines
- Available to undertake business travelling within Europe
- Availability to relocate to Naples or Pistoia (if applicable)
**Additional desirable Requirements**
- Experience in the rolling stock passenger sector
- Experience in various international markets
- Engineering background with knowledge of trains' technical aspects
- Experience in TCO evaluation approach and models
- Railway transportation market/models knowledge (Technical and economical)
- An understanding of health and safety requirements of a working environment
**Education/Qualifications**
University Bachelor Degree in Engineering is required, alternatively in Economics with proven positive attitude towards dealing with complex industrial products business
**Languages**
- Italian
- English at fluent level
- Other commonly spoken European languages (e.g.
French, German or Spanish) is a plus
