The Safety Assessor will be part of the central Safety Assessment Organisation, reporting to ALSTOM HQ, being accredited ISO 17020 for ISA and AsBo mission, ensuring the independence and impartiality of its mission.
The Safety Assessor will execute safety assessments on projects/products, according to reference standards and regulations, to determine whether they meet the specified safety requirements and to form a judgement on the fact that they fit for their intended purpose. She/he will work in an international and dynamic environment, contributing to the early detection of risks during development phases and to the achievement of the right-first-time objective. The provision of its impartial and independent return of experience will be a key contribution to the continuous improvement of the processes.
Responsibilities
Assessment Activities:
Plan and manage safety assessment activities for the assigned projects. Deploy safety assessment processes applying reference methods and tools in consistency with applicable standards and regulations. When several assessors intervene on the assigned project/product, and when acting as Lead Assessor, coordinate the activities of assessment. Deliver safety assessment reports for the defined key milestones. Present the assessment results to the Project/Product team, and if necessary to the management or to external entities such as customers/railway safety authorities. Process Management:
Apply reference Safety Assessment processes and tools, and contribute to its improvement using the Return of Experience process. Manage workload of assigned projects. Others:
Support internal safety reviews when external Independent Safety Assessment is already appointed. Contribute to the successful achievement of internal/external ISO 17020 audits process compliance. Requirements
Educational Requirements:
Master's Degree in Engineering or similar technical fields. Experience:
Previous experience in railway Safety Assessment / RAMS domain or significant experience in railway safety systems/products. Application of CENELEC standards (EN 50126/50129/50128) and EU Regulation n. 402/2013 on CSM-RA. Previous experience in audits will be a preferred title. Required Competencies and Skills:
Rigorous and structured. Ability to challenge and defend own position. Technical knowledge of safety processes and related methods and tools. Knowledge of railway operational context and main system/products functional and technical characteristics. Knowledge of railway safety standards and regulations.
