Definition of the Roster:
Main Purpose
Supporting the communication and interaction between beneficiaries (migrants and refugees) of Survivors of Tortures Project in Palermo and care providers, through addressing consequences of language barriers, socio-cultural differences and discrimination, following MSF protocols and procedures, to improve access to quality health care and other relevant services and providing MSF with an understanding of local socio-cultural determinants.

Responsabilità:
The intercultural mediator will support all the activities of Palermo Survivors of Tortures (SoT) Project.
In particular:
- Participating in all the phases of the SoT model of care (identification of patients, First Assessment, preparation of Individualized Therapeutic Plans, medical/psychological/social/legal follow-ups, discharge)
- Booking specialized medical consultations for patients and accompanying them in case of need (including Forensic Medicine consulatations)
- Supporting patients in accessing local health and social services (e.g., enrollment in the Regional Health Service, through "Tessera Sanitaria" or STP/ENI code; issuance of the tax code; issuance of the municipal residence certificate, including "Residenza fittizia"; enrollment in Italian language courses)
- Together with the Project social worker, participating in outreach activities, particularly within the main migrant/refugee communities living in Palermo metropolitan area
- Contributing in organizing the social support and Health Promotion (HP) group sessions and training within the same communities, with a particular focus on SoT-related topics
- Supporting activities of the Primary Health Care (PHC) clinic for migrants/refugees at Polyclinic "Giaccone" ("Ambulatorio di Medicina delle Migrazioni") related to MSF SoT and HOPE Projects
- Participating to PFA - Psychological First Aid - activities in Siciliy and other regions, according to the needs and when compatible with Palermo project priorities and requirements
- Contributing to the preparation, translation and revision/update of the tools and materials used in the Project activities
- Participating in internal and external training activities
- Collecting data and information related to his/her activities
- Participating in public events to raise awareness on SoT-related topics.
Qualifiche:
**Education**
- Secondary education (essential)
- Degree in social sciences, social communication, or teaching (desirable)
**Experience**
- Minimum two-year experience in similar position, preferably in medical and/or social settings with MSF or other NGOs or, alternatively, Professional Course as an intercultural mediator (essential)
- Previous experience in migration/refugee contexts (desirable)
- Experience in Sicily migration context (desirable)
- Previous experience in PFA - Psychological First Aid (desirable)
