We have opened a position looking for a highly motivated researcher in the field of building physics applied to the energy retrofit of historic buildings to join our team in Bolzano. The position will involve working as part of a multidisciplinary team of the EURAC research group Energy Retrofit of Historic Buildings, consisting of architects, engineers, and physicists with several scientific background. Particular focus will be given to the characterization of materials and use of numerical models for the assessment and quantification of internal insulation solutions with the aim of fostering the energy transition towards a low carbon society in the Alpine Space and beyond.
The position will be part of the regional research project to improve design processes for the energy refurbishment of existing buildings and historic centres through innovative interior insulation solutions. The reference hereto is:

**Tasks**:
- Hygrothermal characterisation of existing building materials in South Tyrol
- Planning and performance of necessary laboratory tests
- Simulation and assessment of the hygrothermal performance of internally insulated envelopes
- Management of specific research task
- Contribute to and write scientific articles
- Support the drafting and publication of reports
- Contribute to communication, information and dissemination tasks within the projects
- Presentation and dissemination of relevant results to internal and external contacts as necessary
**Requirements**:
We are seeking a highly motivated individual with:
- Graduation in a related discipline such as architecture, building physics, engineering
- Research or working experience at the interface between building physics, energy efficiency, and conservation
- Analytical, numerical and problem-solving attitude
- Knowledge of hygrothermal and energy modelling tools (Delphin, WUFI)
- Knowledge of programming tools (e.g. Python or MATLAB) would be a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, e.g. minute taking, drafting reports and delivering presentations to audiences at a variety of levels
- Excellent written and spoken English skills; knowledge of either Italian or German (both is a plus)
