We are pleased to publish the vacancy for 3 Residence Assistants, starting August 2023. The Residence Assistants are expected to play a vital role in the residential and educational life of students. This role was designed after a collaborative and consultative process with key stakeholders, including students and staff.
This new position is in line with the safety and safeguarding practices and fully takes into account the parameters of UWC Adriatic thus presenting an opportunity to ensure a wholesome UWC experience tailored towards each student and their needs.
Residence Assistants PositionThe College is looking to appoint three 64.2% part-time Residence Assistants on a 9-month fixed-term contract to start on August 21st 2023 and terminate on May 21st 2024 for a total number of 802 working hours.
Specific Job DescriptionCommunity Norms: Overseeing the expectations established by the College for residential life.
Specific tasks include:
Checking the sign in and sign out sheets (completed when students leave Duino) that are placed in residences, and follow up with students who haven't signed back in.Encouraging students to follow quiet time in the residences.Checking that students have returned to their respective residence by curfew (10:30 pm from Sunday to Thursday, 12:00 am on Friday and Saturday). It is crucial that students proactively communicate with RAs should they be running late.Support the Teacher on Duty at weekends.In instances of Code of Conduct transgression, discuss the situation with the student(s) and communicate with Residence Tutors should any further action be required.Assisting in potential medical and other emergencies during the evening.Health & Safety: Check the cleanliness and respect of safety regulations of common areas, including the use of the kitchen.Inform Residence Tutors and the Domestic Bursar of maintenance needs and follow up on maintenance requests in a timely manner.Perform monthly Health and Safety checks and complete the required form (As per Italian Guidelines).Provide additional pastoral support to students as and when required.Desired Qualities: Speak English and preferably Italian.Willing to complete a First-Aid course and Pastoral Training.Willing and able to drive College vans in case of emergencies.Experience of working with young adults.Residence Assistants live in the village and work under the direction of and report to the Deputy Head (Pastoral).
Working Hours: 7:30 pm – 11:30 pm (4 hours): Sunday to Thursday (All 3 RAs on duty)Remuneration and Employment Details:
The post-holder will be paid a salary based on experience and in line with the College's pay scale. The appointment will be on level D of the Federculture national labour contract. For this appointment, only EU/EEA/Swiss nationals or nationals of other countries in possession of a valid Italian work residence permit will be accepted.
