Organisation/Company: Polytechnic University of Bari Department: Dipartimento di Meccanica, Matematica e Management Research Field: Engineering Researcher Profile: Recognised Researcher (R2) Country: Italy Application Deadline: 7 Jan 2025 - 23:59 (Europe/Rome) Type of Contract: Other Is the job funded through the EU Research Framework Programme? Other EU programme Offer Description Department: Department of Mechanics, Mathematics and Management Italian University Scientific Group: 09/IIND-02 – Mechanics applied to machines Italian University Scientific Field: IIND-02/A - Mechanics applied to machines Research Activities: The successful candidate will be involved in the ERC RoboFluid project, which aims to study and create a new generation of service robots and wearable robots using soft and innovative materials. The activity will focus on the study of solid-state fluidic transducers with increased efficiency and capable of operating with a wider range of fluids. These transducers will then be integrated with fluidic actuators, especially in fiber form, to create artificial muscles in the form of fiber bundles. Scientific Productivity Goals: Conducting research activities accompanied by the filing of patents, presentations at national and international conferences, as well as publications in high-profile national and international journals on the specific topics described in the ERC RoboFluid project, such as the creation of new artificial muscles activated by solid-state electro-fluidic transducers and the development of new robotic systems based on these fluidic artificial muscles, such as soft robots, wearable robots, exosuits, haptic systems, and human-machine interfaces. Teaching Commitments: Assignment of up to a maximum of 6 CFU (60 hours of frontal teaching) in courses related to the SSD IIND-02/A, to be held at the Bari offices. The modalities consist of carrying out, in addition to frontal teaching activities, any exercises, assistance to students, participation in the procedures for verifying the results and final in the course of teaching pertaining to the SSD IIND-02/A, for a maximum of 350 h/year. Required Skills: Experience with the study, development, and testing of robotic components and systems using soft materials and based on electrostatic transducers. Experience with soft fluidic actuators. Programming Skills Required: Development of code in one or more of the following programming languages: C++, Matlab, Python and/or others. Knowledge of embedded programming systems such as Arduino and data acquisition software. Specific Requirements: PhD related to the study of robotics, mechatronics, dynamical systems, autonomous systems, advanced functional materials. J-18808-Ljbffr
