Specific research tasks include: The definition of models, ontologies, and mapping formalisms to semantically describe datasets in a data processing pipeline (DPP), and the identification of suitable quality measures for data and processes; The development of techniques for semantic enrichment of data through (semi-)automatic extraction of mappings between data and ontologies; The development of techniques for the abstraction of data transformations in DPP stages into semantic transformations described at the ontology level; The extension of the framework of provenance semirings for relational DBs to consider mappings and ontologies, additional types of data sources, and non-functional requirements.
