**Purpose Statement**
To act as a stakeholder manager for MPs, political institutions and regulatory authorities, NGOs and civil servants in Italy and with EU organizations.
To build the company reputation by designing and implementing effective strategies and campaigns aimed to assure decision-makers that BAT Italia is leading the industry towards a more sustainable position.
To protect business from restrictions to the industry's freedom to operate, working on the regulatory environment.
In this context, to be able to work in autonomy on stakeholder engagement, preparing advocacy materials, opening, and maintaining key relations, mapping decision makers, creating meeting opportunities, coordinating within the team.
To work effectively in a multinational environment with peers from both the Italian market and functional colleagues in other BAT's European companies and above market offices.
**Key Accountabilities**
- Provide input to develop and manage BAT Italia's political and regulatory strategies, showing a leadership attitude and contributing to new proposal.
- Coordinate intelligence gathering activities to monitor events and issues in the political and regulatory environment that may affect the company's business and promptly alert relevant internal stakeholders, identifying appropriate sources of information and keeping relations with key stakeholders.
- Identify and drive proposal of regulatory changes to protect the principal aspects of the business and achieve sensible regulation which balances both the business and corporate reputation protecting consumers' freedom.
- Build stakeholder maps and lead engagement plans, managing interrelation with governments, political institutions, regulatory authorities, NGOs.
- Draft and review advocacy materials such as - by way of example - position papers, presentations and policy proposal.
- Manage proactively regulatory engagement and collaboration with critical stakeholders, to build coalitions over common issues.
- Be a contributor to the definition and implementation of the fiscal and regulatory strategy, to protect licence to operate and marketing freedom.
- Be a contributor of our A Better Tomorrow Agenda, by contributing to shape and drive BAT Italia's ESG proposition.
- Support external and internal communications strategy development in line with business and regulatory engagement needs, to achieve a positive relationship between the organisation and its main stakeholders.
**Knowledge, Skills and Experience**
- University Degree in Law or Political Science, with relevant professional qualification.
- 5-7 years of experience in external affairs, with preference on pharma or highly regulated markets.
- Experience in sustainability or innovation would be a plus.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with
- internal and external stakeholders.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify opportunities and develop effective solutions.
- Knowledge of Italian and EU political processes.
- Understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks, including compliance and risk management.
- Insightful, comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty.
- Fluency in Italian and English, both written and spoken.
